Servicing schedule that keeps a VW right

Two service-book lines decide most VW outcomes. The cambelt: TSI petrols and TDI diesels carry fixed belt dates, typically five years or around 80,000 miles, always with the water pump. And the DSG gearbox: fluid and filter every 38,000 miles on the wet-clutch boxes. Both jobs are unglamorous and both prevent the only genuinely expensive failures common to the breed. London driving and your VW

DSG hesitation in stop-start traffic is nearly always fluid age, not doom; fresh oil restores most of them. TDIs need the monthly motorway run for the DPF, and older EA189-era diesels that had emissions work deserve an honest check if they feel down on power. TSI engines are strong but dislike long oil intervals in town, so annual changes minimum.

Buying a used VW?
